Scott Cacciola joined the New York Times in 2013 as a sports reporter. For 10 years, he primarily covered the N.B.A. but also made forays into the worlds of track and field, soccer and Olympic curling. He joined the Styles desk in 2023 amid the dissolution of the Sports department.

He is a graduate of Middlebury College, where he played varsity basketball (sparingly) and ran track (slowly). He has a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. Before joining The New York Times, he was a staff writer for The Wall Street Journal and The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn.
